Learn More About The Estates of Silverlake

Good Evening Silver Lakes HOA,

Crosspointe Elementary is located in your back yard. One of your residents, Mrs. Laura Orlove is our primary Reading Coach. We are a Title 1 school, which means 94% of our students receive Free or Reduced lunch based on their parent’s income. We presently have just under 700 students from over 20 different countries. Our school is an AVID school, an SEL school and a STEM school.

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and focuses on college prep skills. Yes, college prep in elementary school. We focus a lot on organizational skills and installing the mindset that every student can go to college.

SEL stands for Social Emotional Learning and it is taught daily in every setting of the school. Kindness, empathy and responsibility for ones feelings. These life skills are infused in our daily activities. We are educating students to be better individuals and citizens.

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Employment opportunities for our students in the future fall mainly into one of those categories. Our goal is for students to learn to cooperatively work together to solve problems within those fields. We have converted our school library into a STEM Center, where students can create objects on 3D printers, work with robotics.

How can you help us? Donating your time, talent or treasures. Time: We love having volunteers in classrooms and at our events. You might be interested in a weekly position or maybe only for special events. Talent: you may have a skill our students could benefit from. Example one of our volunteers is a pianist. She has paired up with a few students and they have performed to raise money for our Safety Patrols. Your talent could make a huge difference. Treasures: we always accept monetary donations. You may make a general donation or you may choose how you would like your money to be spent (STEM, SEL, AVID, behavioral awards, teacher incentives, etc).

Every month I send out a Monthly Update Email. In this, I list all the possible ways we could use your assistance during that month. You are informed but can choose what you would like to assist with. If you would like to be added to this email, please email me at Courtney.roper@palmbeachschools.org

In the upcoming months we will be having a lot of testing. On those dates, the district does not allow us to have ANY volunteers on campus.🚫That means, if 5th grade is testing, we can not have volunteers assist in any grade level (even kindergarten). I know this is not ideal but we have to follow the rules. The teacher you volunteer with should be reaching out to you with the dates. I have attached a calendar with the days we are testing crossed out. You may not come on campus on any of those dates.

**If you are able to donate any of the follow items it would be greatly appreciated! Presently our teachers are purchasing these out of their own pockets.
1. snacks (for our tutorial program)
2. copy paper
3. Glue sticks
4. Dry erase markers

Thank you for all of your support! 😎
